Research and Education Projects
- · Research presentations:
The Society holds regular academic conferences twice a year. The Korean Linguistics Academic Conference in Commemoration of Sejong Day is held around May 15, which is Sejong Day, and the Korean Linguistics Academic Conference in Commemoration of Hangeul Day is held around October 9, which is Hangeul Day, respectively. The current state and accomplishments of Korean language research per field are discussed at the Korean Linguistics Academic Conference in Commemoration of Sejong Day, and the Korean language and script use environment is discussed at the Korean Linguistics Academic Conference in Commemoration of Hangeul Day. In addition to regular academic conferences, special research presentations are held irregularly whenever necessary.
- · Korean Speech and Composition Counseling:
With a tradition of serving as the center of the development of the national language and of leading the language life of the public for over 100 years since its foundation, the Society steadfastly engages in counseling activities regarding the usages of the Korean language and script even now. Though counselees personally visit the Society at times, telephone inquiries are the most numerous. In addition, the Society engages in linguistic counseling activities through diverse means including post, fax, and e-mail.
- · Lectures for Citizens:
For three years starting in 2007, the Society obtained a license from the District Office of Education as an institute for continuing education and operated culture lectures, with a focus on language norms such as Korean orthography. Although these lectures were terminated in 2010, the Society is once again planning to offer lectures for citizens, with a focus on the Korean language, Korean script, language culture, and language norms, twice a year, starting in 2016. Renowned scholars including the directors of the Society will personally serve as the speakers at these lectures, and knowledge on the Korean language and script that is more diverse and substantial than ever before will be shared.
